What Are The Best MBE Practice Questions?
What Are The Best MBE Practice Questions?
The focus of this blog article is on the MBE portion of the bar exam. The MBE portion is comprised of exactly 200 multiple choice questions that must be answered over a six-hour period. So, with such a heavy focus on multiple-choice questions – what are the best kind to use when preparing for the bar exam? Do you depend solely on the MBE practice questions included in your bar prep course? Should you practice using MBE questions found online? What about from supplemental bar prep tools? In short, the best MBE practice questions are those previously included on the bar exam and later released by the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE). We’ve previously discussed the best places to find practice MBE questions. This time around we’re going to look at several key advantages to practicing with previously released MBE questions.
What Are The Best MBE Practice Questions?
Stylistic Similarities
MBE questions on the bar exam are written in a certain style, tone, and are usually a certain length. This means spending more time with questions written in the same way will benefit you in the long run. The easiest way to ensure you realize this benefit is by using previously released MBE questions. Not all bar prep courses utilize previously released MBE questions, so be sure to check and see what type of MBE questions your bar prep program uses.
Issue Spotting Benefits
Using previously released MBE questions to study for the bar exam can also improve your issue-spotting skills. At the end of the day, questions on the bar exam can only be asked in a finite number of ways. At some point, the examiners need to start recycling ideas. By using previously released MBE questions, your brain subconsciously begins to pick up on how certain questions are asked. Sooner or later, you’ll start to realize that you know what’s being asked and what information to look out for. This not only lessens the amount of time being spent on each question but also hastens the process of elimination. Using simulated practice MBE questions from other sources will likely lead to calls of the question being asked and looking differently.
Confidence Boosters
Previously released MBE questions are also a great way to improve comfort and confidence before the real deal. While using MBE practice questions from sources other than previous bar exams might not necessarily hurt performance on the bar exam, they won’t help as much either. For example, imagine a long-distance runner preparing for an upcoming race. Practicing on courses that don’t match the terrain, length, and time constraints of the upcoming race won’t hurt. However, will those courses give the runner the best chance and most confidence heading into the real race? The same logic is true of MBE questions that were previously included on older bar exams. Using MBE questions from prior bar exams as practice for an upcoming administration can help boost confidence and comfort levels when you face the MBE on exam day.
