I could say THANK YOU a million times and it wouldn’t be enough!
I did fine in law school. I went with the standard/popular bar prep course just like all of my classmates. To say that I was overwhelmed and lacked confidence from the beginning would be an understatement. Despite having just gone through those subjects in school, nothing was clicking – the lengthy lectures, massive books of outlines and fill-in-the blanks, the packed schedule that was impossible to keep up with, the information in general – none of it was working for me. But I thought everyone must feel that way. Yet, I watched as friends and classmates passed (some of whom I outperformed in school). And I did not. It was a big disappointment, but I thought a second round of bar studying and refreshing, utilizing all of the same prep materials on my own, would surely be enough. I still didn’t pass. It was a very embarrassing, frustrating, and draining time in my life, and I didn’t understand why I had failed multiple times. I ultimately tried to chalk it up to a not-meant-to-be situation and just wanted to pivot, move on with life, and not look back.
Fast forward 12 years after law school, I was encouraged by my family to try my hand at the bar exam again. Especially since I had ended up in the legal field anyway (in a fairly specialized area), working for and alongside attorneys, good at my job, training and teaching new attorneys who joined our firm, overseeing and managing employees, etc., it made sense. Truthfully, I still wasn’t in a good headspace about it and felt like I was at an even greater disadvantage now being so far out from school, which was the last time I even remotely thought about 75% of the tested subjects. So, I knew I needed to do something different. As a working mom to a child with special needs, I also needed flexibility and cost-effectiveness. I will be forever grateful that I came across JD Advising.
The UBE On Demand Course was a perfect fit. The course materials are phenomenal! It’s truly such high-quality content for an amazing value. The outline for each subject is incredible! Clear and concise, easy to read, a completely manageable amount of information, not overwhelming, but never for a second did I feel like anything important was left out. The corresponding lectures from Meagan, Heather, Lisa, and Ashley are absolutely amazing! They were interesting and engaging, easy to follow, and the substance is expertly explained. On the occasion that I didn’t quite grasp something while watching and reading along in the outline, sure enough, there was either an immediate example provided, a plain language explanation, a helpful visual representation, or some supplemental discussion, public policy reasoning, etc. – any and all of which cleared up any confusion! (“From a common sense perspective, I think this makes sense.” :) That was always one of my favorite Meagan quotes to hear – because very often for me, understanding the “why” behind a seemingly random law/rule helps it make sense and allows me to truly learn and remember it.) The quality of their instruction is top-notch. One-Sheets are ridiculously helpful! I loved the fun little subject review/memorization tasks and quizzes. There is no shortage of fantastic, real practice questions, and I found the guided practice question sets/lectures to be very helpful, too. I had (stupidly) disregarded the MPT in the past, thinking that since I was a good writer and didn’t have to come up with any substantive knowledge, I’d be fine. Heather’s MPT content and (free!) webinar were so great – her strategy, advice, and tips really helped me capitalize on my writing strength and feel like I was getting the most out of that portion of the exam.
I went in feeling prepared. (And honestly, I could have done more. There were more wonderful resources in the course that I could have taken advantage of, but due to schedule, life, etc. I couldn’t get to them. I definitely fell in the quality-over-quantity category. I was fortunate to be able to take some time off of work for studying, but was still balancing family, motherhood, etc. So, to think that I really could have done even better/scored higher than I did is mind-blowing to me, considering I had given up long ago on the possibility of being successful on the bar.) Nothing on the exam took me by surprise or threw me for a loop. When memory failed me a little, or I got a bit behind on timing, or I was dealing with a subject that wasn’t my strength, I had your strategies in place to rely on, where I knew I was still getting every advantage and point possible as I went.
When my husband asked, “How did it go?”, my response was, “I believe I passed. I feel like I did well and that I deserve to pass.” I had never felt that way previously. I told one of my law school classmates that “it was, dare I say, easy/not that hard.” (Okay, we all know it is not easy.) This course just flat out set me up for success. It did not feel like an overwhelming, impossible hurdle of an exam, but instead was a manageable, strategic test of knowledge of specific subjects, skills, and types of information, during which I was simply able to give the examiners what they were looking for to the best of my abilities, and then just move on to the next. I seriously still get teary-eyed thinking about the fact that I actually did it and how grateful I am for your company.
I tried the “big name” courses, I tried it on my own, I tried it multiple times and ways. My most recent score was a 254. After going through your UBE On Demand Course, I passed the February 2024 North Carolina Bar Exam with a 300! There is no doubt in my mind that I passed because of JD Advising. I give this course and the wonderful instructors all the credit. You can tell how knowledgeable they are, how hard they work in crafting every aspect of the course, every piece of content and advice, and how much they genuinely care. Everything about JD Advising is superb. I THANK YOU ALL! I am finally able to close this chapter and truly move on with life. Thank you again, JD Advising!

I am a three-time bar taker and after using JD Advising’s live course I increased my score by 29 points. I loved the live classes and how JD focuses on memorization from the beginning. The outlines are a life savior and I still even refer to them now when I come across a part of the law I am unfamiliar with. I would recommend JD Advising’s live course to anyone taking the bar exam. Save yourself the money and commit to this program the first time and it will surely be your last!

JD Advising offers the best services for any future attorney. Not only does JD Advising care about your personal success, but they offer programs curated to help you on every step of your ‘legal’ journey. As a first-generation student I found myself very intimidated by both the MPRE and MI Bar Exam (UBE). However, my fears quickly dissipated upon enrolling in JD Advising’s various courses.
Among other services, JD Advising offers: 1v1 tutoring, MBE flashcards, graphic heavy charts/outlines, 1-pagers, highly tested topic review, numerous examples of even the toughest material, a star studded (no pun intended) question bank, and the nicest staff you could ever meet! On top of all these benefits, JD Advising is much more cost-friendly than other bar prep courses. While I passed both the July 2023 MI bar exam and MPRE on my first attempt, I would be lying if I didn’t acknowledge that JD Advising played a huge role in my success!
In short, JD Advising is amazing! 10/10 recommend

JD Advising is simply one of the BEST companies when it comes to Bar prep. However, in order to give credence to my claim it is necessary to provide a bit of background context.
I am a foreign-educated attorney, who was recently admitted in the State of NY. Additionally, I completed an American LL.M. The importance of these aspects becomes apparent below.
I first discovered JD Advising when I was busy preparing for the MPRE in 2021. Almost all of the companies offer these courses for free, so it can be overwhelming deciding which one, or ones, to pick. I went with JD Advising for very simple reasons: 1) manageable, bite-size lectures to understand the law; and 2) concise, colorful, and informative outlines. I passed the MPRE on my first attempt, and I can honestly say that JD Advising was massively important in making that happen.
When it came time to deciding on a company for the UBE, it was a no-brainer for me – I knew what JD Advising offered in terms of outlines, and I enjoyed the platform from which their courses were delivered. Another underrated aspect is their tiered pricing points: while the more premium options offer greater, and more in-depth, package offerings, their On-Demand option is tremendous value, often selling on special, and allows you to be fully in control of your own studying. This aspect appealed to me and is the option I picked when preparing for the July 2022 exam. JD Advising also offers previews to allow you to get familiar with their content and course layout. This is a great option so that you can see whether you will enjoy learning from their outlines (sidenote: their outlines are phenomenal and are routinely illegally shared on Reddit, for what it’s worth, this should point to the demand for them).
Foreign examinees face a litany of challenges in writing the exam, from language, to travel, and being in a foreign place. The recurrently abysmal passing rates point to this. One of the main reasons for this is the sheer content of learning unknown subjects in an unknown legal system. For example, across the entirety of my LL.M. I only studied three of the 12/14 subjects tested on the MEE, and only one of which was on the MBE. I had to learn in 11 weeks what some other examinees had covered across three years.
Spoiler alert: I passed on my first attempt and was able to obtain a passing score in any UBE jurisdiction.
While a lot of that comes down to personal work ethic, JD Advising was absolutely instrumental in helping me pass, and it comes down to their fine-tuning of every aspect of their Bar prep course. The core theme of JD Advising’s approach to Bar prep is deceptively simple: 1) Learn the law; 2) Memorize the law; and 3) Apply/Practice the law. Everything within any offered course is tailored with this in mind, and it really helps to give you a roadmap for your own studies. Their outlines are colorful, concise, and structured to match up with the NCBE’s subject outlines, this helps to guide your studying and to help you locate yourself within any given topic. Also, the outlines are not hundreds of pages, which instantly helps with your motivation to memorize all of the content. Additionally, the lecture videos for any subject are always split up into smaller, more manageable, sections, this really helps to ward off fatigue, and to ensure that ample time is left for memorization and practice. Study schedules are prepared and populated depending on your chosen start date; additional tips, tricks, webinars, and life advice are offered to help you along your studying journey; incentives (like free courses and notes) are offered periodically to ensure that you are on top of your practice essays and questions; and every essay, MPT and MBE question is taken from released questions. It cannot be understated how important this is, as I wrote the Bar exam, 1) not feeling rushed for time as I had been doing time-conditioned essays for weeks; and 2) that the difficulty level of the questions matched what I had been exposed to (although there will always be those outliers). For the price, the sheer-volume and value of the On-Demand course cannot be stressed enough, and it is a fantastic addition to any examinee’s toolbox.
Lastly, JD Advising is made up of incredible humans who have a genuine and sincere passion for helping you reach your Bar goals. Heather and Meagan are engaging lecturers, who have a gift for conveying the nuances of the law, explaining the rationale for why certain principles exist, and stressing tricks and tips to help you manage your studying. Having spent hours of lectures with them, I feel like I know them, and that is truly a testament to their ability to have me locked-in and laser-focused throughout all of the videos. Rosie, who you will presumably interact with if you have any queries, is a gem of a soul who made numerous accommodations as I sought to plan and pay for my Bar prep course. She also offered me tangible and helpful advice as it related to traveling to America, and how to best situate my mindset to write the exam.
Simply put, JD Advising was a “necessary party” to me passing the Bar exam, and while they may not carry the clout of the bigger prep companies, they are without a doubt the best choice for not only preparing for, but conquering the Bar exam.
KES – February 2023 Premium Course Student –
I am so grateful to have taken the Premium UBE course instructed by Meagan, Lisa, and Heather. Heather truly re-shaped my strategy and approach to the MPT. (She has a free MPT seminar I highly recommend!). The amount of multiple choice practice with actual bar exam questions drastically improved my MBE score. The MEE Outlines and One-sheets were critical to improving my essay responses.
For the July 2022 UBE, I used Barbri to study and while it gave the big picture overviews of the subjects, my exam score was only 266 (not enough to pass in NC which requires 270). I decided that I needed to really focus in and get a plan that would help me improve both multiple choice and essays. After taking the JD Advising UBE Premium Course, I passed the February 2023 exam with a UBE score of 307!!!! JD Advising helped me boost my overall score 41 points, which is absolutely incredible.
