Today in our MEE tips series we address Evidence. When thinking about Evidence on the Multistate Essay Exam, you should consider two questions. First, how is it tested? Second, how often is it tested? In the last 10 years (20 administrations), we’ve seen Evidence on the Multistate Essay Exam in 8 full essays. Additionally we have also seen Criminal Law combined with Evidence on the Multistate Essay Exam. Therefore, while it does not appear all that often, the NCBE gets creative with how they test Evidence. Even if you think a question is testing another subject, beware for how Evidence issues could be included as well!

Up next in our tips for the MEE series is tips for Constitutional Law on the Multistate Essay Exam. When thinking about Constitutional Law on the Multistate Essay Exam, you should consider two questions: how is it tested? And how often is it tested? In the last 10 years (20 administrations), we’ve seen Constitutional Law on the Multistate Essay Exam only 7 times. However, the NCBE tends to put Constitutional Law on the Multistate Essay Exam a little more frequently as of late. In the last 9 administrations, Constitutional Law has come up 4 times.
It can be helpful to have a bar exam essay template when you begin to write bar exam essays. A good bar exam essay template can help you ensure: (a) that you connect every dot and do not miss a step (that is, you will state the rule, apply it, and conclude); and (b) it can help you approach the bar exam with confidence knowing that you know how to design your essays to get the maximum amount of points. The multistate performance test (MPT) is an often overlooked portion of the bar exam. But you should not overlook it! In UBE states (and in states where the MPT is worth 20% of your overall score) it is worth the equivalent of 70 multiple-choice questions!
