The Multistate Performance Test (MPT) is one of the more intimidating part of the Uniform Bar Exam as well as state bar exams. This time in our MEE tips series we address Family Law. When thinking about Family Law on the Multistate Essay Exam, consider two questions. How is it tested, and how often is it tested? In the last 10 years (20 administrations), we’ve seen Family Law on the Multistate Essay Exam a total of 11 times. Family Law began that stretch as virtually certain to appear, showing up on 7 MEEs in a row. It has been relatively more uncommon since then and is certainly not a guarantee on every MEE exam. (If you are curious about the evolution of the MEE and why family law is tested less now, read this article.) However, because Family Law is regularly tested (even if it is not tested every exam) it is important to have an understanding of the topic on teh MEE.
Welcome to our MBE tip of the day series. This MBE post focuses on Civil Procedure.
You will see 25 scored Civil Procedure MBE questions on the Multistate Bar Exam. In this post, we will review a Civil Procedure question together. Note that we have posted several MBE tips (which you can find links to at the bottom of this post) that focus on a specific multiple-choice question that many students answer incorrectly. If you can master these questions, it could increase your MBE score by that many points if you see any of these issues tested again (which, by the way, you will!). These posts of MBE tips and tricks will not only cover substantive law but also strategy. So each post covers one highly-tested area of substantive law as well as an important MBE strategy. You can sign up to receive these posts directly to your inbox for the upcoming administration at the bottom of this page.
This time in our MEE tips series we address Civil Procedure. When thinking about Civil Procedure on the Multistate Essay Exam, you should consider two questions: how is it tested? And how often is it tested? In the last 10 years (20 administrations), we’ve seen Civil Procedure on the Multistate Essay Exam 17 times. Interestingly, two of those three times we didn’t see it have come in the last two years. Overall, Civil Procedure is the most frequently tested subject on the Multistate Essay Exam. Thus you’d do well to give it a significant amount of attention in your studying!

How to Start Studying for the Uniform Bar Exam Early: If you are taking the Uniform Bar Exam (UBE), you may wonder how you can start studying for the Uniform Bar Exam early. Many students want to start early for a variety of reasons. Maybe you did not do well in law school. Maybe you graduated from law school several years ago so are not as “tuned up” on the law. This time in our MEE tips series we address Criminal Law and Procedure. When thinking about Criminal Law and Procedure on the Multistate Essay Exam, you should consider two questions. How are they tested, and how often are they tested? In the last 10 years (20 administrations), we’ve seen Criminal Law and Procedure on the Multistate Essay Exam a total of 10 times. Criminal Law has appeared 4 times by itself. Criminal Procedure has also appeared 4 times by itself, as well as one time combined with Evidence. There was also one instance where Criminal Law and Procedure appeared together. Considered individually, these subjects are rather rare. But you essentially have a 50/50 shot of seeing some form of Criminal Law and Procedure on the Multistate Essay Exam.
