However, there are some remote bar exam benefits you can take advantage of. Read further to see what they are!
Remote Bar Exam Benefits for July 2021 Takers
While many applicants lament the fact that they don’t get to be a part of the traditional “Bar Exam experience” – taking the exam remotely is a unique experience all on its own. If you’re worried about missing out on sitting in a large convention hall with hundreds of nervous applicants, don’t be. Taking the Bar Exam remotely can definitely come with its own benefits despite being different than the traditional experience. This article will go over all the benefits of taking a remote Bar Exam. Who knows, at the end of this article you might realize you prefer a remote exam!
1. You Can Take The Test Practically Anywhere
Talk about convivence! Taking the Bar Exam remotely allows you to have the freedom to take the test from any location you like. Want to arrive in Hawaii before the exam so you can begin relaxation as soon as the test is done? A remote Bar Examination allows you to do that. Pre-Covid, it was not unheard of for applicants to be assigned a testing center nowhere near them. That means booking flights, checking into a hotel, and being forced to take a test in an unfamiliar setting. Not only does that process result in the applicant incurring costs, but it also adds to the stress of taking the Bar Exam. What time does my flight leave? What if I don’t like my hotel room? How am I going to eat lunch at the Bar Exam? All of these questions are practically eliminated with the remote Bar Exam.
2. Comfort
Taking the Bar Exam remotely allows you to be more comfortable than if you were taking the test in person. You can control exactly how much light you want in the room, what kind of chair you sit in, what type of computer screens you use, and so on. In fact, you can control practically every comfort-related aspect of taking the Bar Exam. These luxuries simply aren’t available to in-person test-takers. In-person Bar Exams are a somewhat stale and intimidating environment. Everyone during in-person examinations sits at the same desks, on the same chairs, in the same room. Critically, when taking a remote version of the Bar Exam, you get to be alone. There’s nobody clicking their pen, getting up to use the restroom, or breathing heavily. These are all realities of taking an in-person exam.
3. No Physical Documents
The in-person version of the Bar Exam has A LOT of physical paperwork that comes with it. Scantrons, MBE booklets, essay packets, performance test documents, and so on. At certain points during the exam flipping through so many documents can be flustering. Take for example the performance test portion of the Bar Exam. You have a file and a library. The problem is that the file and the library each contain a host of different documents. The file for example may include transcripts, deposition testimony, pleadings, correspondence, client documents, contracts, etc.…That’s a lot to keep track of in your workspace. Moreover, seeing how other applicants treat the Bar Exam documents can also create unneeded concerns. Why is that person spending so much time looking at that page? Did I miss something? Why is everyone around me flipping through pages so rapidly? Am I going to slow? You get the idea.
