The MPT doesn’t involve any memorization of the law, so technically students cannot “study” for this portion of the exam. While there are no topics to study, students can still prepare for the MPT, and the students who prepare the most can use the MPT to significantly boost their overall scores. As a test taker, you should view the MPT as an opportunity. It is worth at least 20% of your overall score depending on whether you are in a UBE state. Scoring well in this section can help make up for slight mistakes in the MBE and MBE portions of the test. Follow these five tips to maximize your MPT score.

If you’re in a UBE jurisdiction, the MEE makes up 30% of your total bar exam score. Needless to say, it’s a significant component of the exam! The MEE consists of six fact patterns, and you have three hours for the entire exam. We recommend that you allocate 30 minutes per fact pattern. In other words, for each fact pattern, you have 30 minutes to read the question, read the fact pattern, identify the relevant issues, and write your answer. To that end, prior to exam day, you should know the black letter law cold so that you’re confident identifying issues and applying the relevant rules. You should also practice working through fact patterns under timed conditions. We’ve discussed preparing for the MEE in detail in other blog posts. In this post, we’ll focus on how to write a high-scoring MEE answer.
How might the coronavirus affect swearing-in ceremonies?
As state bar exam results are flowing in, bar exam takers are anxious for swearing-in ceremonies. However, the coronavirus (COVID-19) may halt this process, or at least change its format. you are unsure you will be able to take the bar exam in the state where you wish to take it (for example,New York has statednot all applicants can take the bar exam and it needs to prioritize applicants)
you are nervous about taking the bar exam in your state due to the coronavirus
you want more than one “bite at the apple” and a chance to pass the bar exam two or three times this year
If you decide you do want to consider a different or additional bar exam, there are multiple factors you should think about. We discuss these factors in-depth in this post. Read more
