LSAT Logic Games Predictions June 2018
In this post, we go over our LSAT Logic Games predictions June 2018. We have no inside knowledge from LSAC. Rather, we carefully analyze released Preptests to see if any patterns emerge. Continue reading below for our thoughts!
LSAT Logic Games Predictions June 2018
LSAT Logic Games Predictions June 2018 #1: One linear, sequencing game
This prediction is very straightforward. LSAC has tested at least one linear sequencing game on every LSAT since time immemorial. It’s a safe bet that you will see one on this LSAT as well. Now, as we know, not all sequencing games are the same. The linear sequencing game on LSAT Preptest 83 used a lot of conditional and sufficient/necessary rules. In the past, linear games were much more straightforward. Be prepared for a “classic” sequencing game and one that uses a lot of “if, then” rules. Either could appear!
LSAT Logic Games Predictions June 2018 #2: One hybrid game
A hybrid game uses parts of both linear and grouping games. A great example is the travel question from Preptest 83. In this game, students needed to create both a linear diagram to deal with the cities visited and also an “out” group from the ones not. The rules of game combined classic sequencing elements (consecutive ordering) with sufficient/necessary elements (if one is picked, the other isn’t). These games are very popular with LSAC right now, and we think chances are likely that you’ll see one on the LSAT.
LSAT Logic Games Predictions June 2018 #3: One “old-style” grouping game
Preptest 83 saw the return of one game type that fell out of fashion with LSAC about 10 years ago: a pure grouping game. By this, we mean that the game provides no number on the in or out-group, and gives little framework other than sufficient/necessary rules. These grouping games used to appear regularly (look back at the 10 Actual, Official LSAT Preptests Volume V to see how popular these were for Preptests 62-71). LSAC has a habit of periodically resurrecting old game types to “freshen” up the LSAT. We think these might be making a comeback. So be prepared! The previously mentioned LSAC Volume V, as well as Volume IV, are great places to get some exposure to these before test day.
LSAT Logic Games Predictions June 2018 #4: One advanced linear game
Both Preptest 82 and 83 had games with advanced linear set-ups. We think it is likely that another one, perhaps with a slight twist like the one on Preptest 83, is likely to appear on the June 2018 LSAT.
