Is Holiday LSAT Review A Good Idea?
Is Holiday LSAT Review A Good Idea?
We’re well into the festive part of the year. While the holidays are a great time for food, family, and celebrating, they are not perceived to be a great time for LSAT review. However, we think that this could not be further from the truth. In this post, we cover why holiday LSAT review is actually very doable!
Is Holiday LSAT Review A Good Idea?
1. College students generally have an extended block of time off.
If you are a current college student, chances are you are running down your semester, and have a few weeks off from classes until after the New Year. While you might find yourself working extra shifts, or attending a lot of holiday events, you also have a lot of time for LSAT review. Generally, we advise students that holiday LSAT review can work if you just allocate time you were spending in class to LSAT prep. Many students simply keep to their class schedule from the previous semester. However you choose to approach it, college students should have a decent chunk of time to devote to LSAT prep.
For everyone who isn’t a college student, this can also work for you. Unless you work in retail or some other job that is heavily dependent on holiday productivity, you might see a general slackening of work assignments as the holidays approach and people are out of the office. Use this to your advantage! The week after Christmas is notorious for vacation time and slowed productivity at work. If you can, take the week off, and focus on LSAT prep. Otherwise, try to sneak LSAT prep in during dead periods.
2. The holiday season has a lot of built in motivators.
Yes, the holiday season brings a lot of late nights, parties, and other festive events. However, instead of framing these as inescapable distractions, use them as motivators to study. If you have a party you want to attend in the evening, use it as motivation to get through your LSAT prep during the day. It’s as simple as telling yourself “I need to get through this material so I can enjoy myself tonight!” Use the fact that you have something to look forward to push yourself through your prep.
3. LSAT prep material makes great gifts.
You can spend thousands of dollars on LSAT prep material. The holiday season gives you a perfect excuse to have others help you buy it! Instead of settling for the same knit sweater from Grandma, tell her you really need LSAT prep material. That way, you can keep some money in your own pocket while getting everything you need for the test.
4. The weather lends itself to staying indoors.
Holiday weather is cold, dark, and doesn’t lend itself to outdoor activity. If you are especially active during the warmer months of the year, use your extra pent up energy towards holiday LSAT review. It’s too cold to really enjoy yourself outside. So, you might as well use the time you are stuck inside productively!
