Can I use MEE One-Sheets as Substitutes for Outlines?
Can I use MEE One-Sheets as Substitutes for Outlines?
A few Multistate Essay Exam (MEE) one-sheets purchasers have asked us if MEE one-sheets can be used as substitutes for full MEE outlines.
We do not recommend that you use MEE one-sheets as substitutes for outlines! This is for a few reasons:
First, while MEE one-sheets highlight the highly-tested areas of law, they do not cover every area of law. And while you may want to focus on the highly-tested areas of law when you study (so you can study the most efficiently!) you do not want to lose sight of the bigger picture of the law.
Some students will read through their outlines to become as familiar as possible with the material then specifically memorize the areas of law covered by the MEE one-sheets.
Another reason it is not a good idea to use the MEE one-sheets as a substitute for an outline is because the highly-tested topics are not always tested on the MEE. For the February 2017 MEE, our MEE one-sheets covered over half of what was tested on the MEE. However, some of the questions tested topics that were not covered by the MEE one-sheets.
So how should you use the MEE one-sheets?
Read this post if you are curious to see how our customers use the MEE one-sheets to study effectively for the bar exam. In essence, they suggested using (and we suggest using!) the MEE one sheets in the following ways:
- Read them before and after you review materials so you can focus on the highly-tested topics.
- Use them to quiz yourself and make sure you know the highly tested topics.
- Carry them around with you for a review when you have a few minutes to study.
- Use them as a reference tool when you do not understand something.
- Use them as a last-minute review.
- Use them as a confidence booster!
