Best LSAT Habits of Successful Students
Best LSAT Habits of Successful Students
Regardless of how they begin, the students who do best on the LSAT inevitably share some common approaches to studying for the LSAT. Through my years of tutoring for the test, I’ve noted the qualities of those who score best on the exam, and what they did to best prepare themselves. So, here are the best LSAT habits to develop during your preparation!
Best LSAT Habits of Successful Students
1. They develop a study schedule.
As I’ve written before, one of the best things you can possibly do to prepare for the LSAT is to develop a study schedule and to stick to it. Inevitably, I’ve found the students who progress through their studies and score the best on the exam had a study structure they stuck to. So, develop an LSAT study schedule, and stick to it. If you take nothing else away from this post, remember this advice!
2. They want to figure out every question they get wrong.
Another of the best LSAT habits to develop is to review your incorrect answers, and figure out why you got them wrong. It’s not much fun to go over a test you did not score well on. However, the students who do well on the LSAT are never satisfied with their score. They dig deep into their incorrect answers to better understand why they answered incorrectly. They then use this information to shape their future studying. Although it’s easier to just take a test, score it, and be done, make sure to investigate the substance of your incorrect answers. Inevitably, the students who score best on the exam refused to let even one tiny concept float by unexamined.
3. They reach out for help when they need it.
This ties into point number two, but is also another of the best LSAT habits to develop. If a concept is not clear, the most successful LSAT takers reach out for extra advice in how to grasp a concept. There are so many LSAT resources out there, and they avail themselves of whatever they need to. Whether it is visiting LSAT chat forums, buying extra study material, or meeting with a tutor to fine tune their approach, these takers are never satisfied until they completely understand a topic. Yes, it might only come up once or twice on the test. Yet, their drive to understand what they don’t know also affects how they study what they do know. This is what makes them better students and test takers overall!
So, don’t let your curiosity and drive dim as you get closer to test day. Reach out for extra help if you need it. You’ll appreciate the extra effort once you get your score back and you get into your dream school!
