Illinois bar exam results came out September 29, 2017. The Oregon Board of Bar Examiners administered the first Uniform Bar Exam (UBE) in July of 2017. In 2017, Oregon also lowered its passing score (or “cut score”) from 284 to 274 after complaints from law school deans (who pushed for a cut score of 266). A score of 284 would have been the highest score required to pass in a UBE jurisdiction. Read more

Hawaii, while not a UBE jurisdiction, does use the MBE, MEE, and MPT from the NCBE to structure its test. It also includes a state specific ethics portion of the exam. Hawaii’s bar passage rate has not seen a precipitous drop like many states have over the past 10 years. It has stayed pretty stable at around 65-70%. Don’t think that each state requires the same passing score! Although many jurisdictions administer the UBE, a passing score varies from state to state. As a result, a passing score varies widely. So, below, we go over the UBE minimum passing score range for each jurisdiction.
The Michigan Board of Law Examiners’ only passed seven Michigan bar exam appeals in the State of Michigan for the February 2017 administration.
We are thrilled to have written five of those appeals. Of the passing appeals that we wrote, three clients passed needing only one point on appeal. One passed needing two points. One passed needing three points.
Update 1/1/23: Michigan no longer allows examinees to appeal their bar exam score! We will no longer be writing appeals for Michigan Bar Exam takers.
Washington DC bar exam results are usually released around mid-to-end of October. Last July 2016, they were released November 1. (Our formal prediction for the July 2017 Washington DC bar exam results is Friday, November 3, given the higher number of DC bar exam takers and the trend toward a later results release date.)
