February 2016 California Bar Exam Passage Rate is 35%
February 2016 California bar exam results were released yesterday (a week early) on March 13, 2016. Statistics show that the February 2016 California bar exam passage rate is a mere 35.7%. Out of 4758 takers, only 1700 passed.
By any standards, a 35.7% passage rate is dismal! This is even down from the low — and much talked about — February 2015 bar exam passage rate of 39.5%. Because the February passage rate tends to be lower than July (in California as well as most states) and because the MBE scores dropped across the nation this February, we are not shocked that the passage rate is low, but even we are surprised that it is this low!
