University of Detroit Mercy School of Law hosts
Professionalism in Action Event
On Friday, January 27, the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law hosted an event, Professionalism in Action, for their first year law students. First year University of Detroit Mercy School of Law students were asked to read fact patterns that contained tricky ethical dilemmas. The fact patterns, and the discussion surrounding them, revealed how law students have to be aware of how their behavior (both in and out of law school) can affect their ability to be admitted to the State bar and to practice law in Michigan and elsewhere.
Ashley Heidemann, and several other attorneys and judges in the community (pictured above and below), volunteered their time to go over these fact patterns and to share their personal experiences and expertise with students at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
The purpose of the event was for first-year law students to understand how their behavior—even before they become attorneys —can affect their ability to pass character and fitness and practice law in Michigan.
We were happy to a part of the event and contribute to this honorable purpose.
