What if I Totally Bomb an MEE Question?

The six questions on the MEE are each worth 5% of your score. So, if you run out of time and are unable to answer a question or totally space it, there is only a minimal impact on your overall score. And, if your other five answers are strong, they could make up for a poor showing on one question! If you’re worried that poor performance on one MEE question will lead to failing the exam, hopefully, this gives you some peace of mind!

How Important is My MEE Total Score?

In Uniform Bar Exam (UBE) jurisdictions, the MEE is worth 30% of your score. In non-UBE jurisdictions, the MEE percentage varies but is typically around 30%. Because you need a score total between 65% and 70% to pass the bar, it is possible to fail the MEE and still pass! You’ll need to make up those points on the MBE and the MPT.

How Can I Boost My MEE Score?

Knowing that you can fail the MEE section and still pass the bar exam may give you some comfort. It is important to remember that you do not need to aim for or achieve a perfect score on the MEE to get a good enough overall score to pass the bar.
