The seminar is a three-hour lecture (that comes with a fifty page booklet!) where Ashley Heidemann, founder of JD Advising, LLC., will review the highly-tested areas of law that are likely to be covered by the essay portion of the Michigan bar exam.

During the seminar, Ashley also reveals her predictions about what will be tested on the essay portion of the Michigan bar exam. Statistically speaking, 1/3 to 1/2 of what she discusses in the seminar will appear on the essay portion of the Michigan bar exam. 

For the February 2016 Michigan bar exam, Ashley Heidemann reviewed the following issues in the Michigan bar exam seminar which also appeared on the essay portion of the February 2016 Michigan bar exam:

  • Agency — Ashley went over the law for actual versus implied authority and ratification. (This was the entire Agency question so students who attended the seminar did well on it!)
  • Secured Transactions — Ashley predicted that there would be a Secured Transactions question and also discussed perfection and priority of PMSI’s in consumer goods. (This was the entire Secured Transactions question!)
  • Conflict of Laws — Ashley reviewed what to discuss when there is a choice of law dispute in a tort case (this was the entire Conflicts question!)
  • Domestic Relations — Ashley predicted that the issues tested would be: (1) modification of custody, (2) established custodial environment, and (3) best interest of the child. This was the exact question asked on the Domestic Relations question of the February 2016 Michigan bar exam!
  • Evidence — Ashley told students how to approach a hearsay question on the Michigan bar exam. Hearsay was tested on the February 2016 exam.
  • Criminal Law — Ashley discussed home invasion, which was one of the issues tested on the February 2016 bar exam.
  • Wills — Ashley predicted that Wills (instead of Trusts) would be tested and discussed the requirements of a valid will, the requirements of a holographic will, and the dispensing power (all of which were tested) as well as revocation (which was tested and which Ashley predicted would come up!)
  • Personal Property — Ashley discussed the exact bailments issue and Lost and Mislaid property issue that appeared on the exam. Ashley also predicted that these two issues would be tested.

Ashley also discusses how to approach and structure bar exam essays to get the maximum amount of points. She further discusses how to make a study schedule that is productive and efficient. In addition to the lecture, you will get a 50-page booklet of the highly tested areas of law. Many students use this booklet as a last-minute review prior to the essay portion of the exam.
