5 Tips For Planning Your Post-Bar Exam Celebration
How To Plan Your Post-Bar Exam Celebration
Once you finish the bar exam you are going to want to celebrate. No matter how well you think you did you should celebrate your accomplishment of just finishing the exam. However, there are a few things you should keep in mind when you plan a post-bar exam celebration.
How To Plan Your Post-Bar Exam Celebration
Once you finish the bar exam and make it to the other side you are going to want to celebrate. Finishing the bar exam is a huge accomplishment in itself. Even if you think you completely bombed the exam you should celebrate just making it through. No matter how well you think you did on the actual exam you should celebrate all the hard work you put into it and that you finished the exam.
The fact that you do not have to wake up the next morning and spend the day studying may be celebration enough for some bar takers. But if you want to celebrate a little bigger there are a few things you should keep in mind when planning your post-bar celebration ahead of time.
1. Remember, you will be tired.
You may be tempted to plan a big get-together to celebrate finishing the bar exam. It is a huge accomplishment to finish the exam and the idea of being free is cause for celebration enough. However, the bar exam is an exhausting two-day endeavor. You may not have the energy to celebrate the way you think you might and you need to keep this in mind when you plan your post-bar exam celebration.
Whatever you end up planning, make sure it does not require a lot of energy. You probably will not have the energy to celebrate for hours after the bar exam or much energy to take part in a celebration that requires you to be physically active, like bowling.
Dinner and a movie might be your safest bet if you know you are going to be exhausted after the bar exam. It requires little energy and it is easy to plan in advance without much effort. The most you have to do is make a reservation and buy your movie tickets. If possible, you can even delegate the planning. You need to focus on preparing for the bar exam and it is an easy enough celebration to delegate.
2. You don’t have a lot of time to plan ahead.
In the stolen moments between bar exam review course videos and your practice questions, you may find yourself daydreaming about life after the bar exam. A huge party with all the friends you have not seen since you started studying sounds like a great idea. But it’s a hard idea to execute.
Planning a big party involves inviting everyone, finding a space, and making sure the party has everything it needs. You do not have a lot of time to plan a big post-bar exam celebration so be sure to keep things simple. If you want a big get-together it may be easier to do it at someone’s house then trying to work it out at a bar or some other venue.
With a get-together at a house (yours or a friend’s) people can bring their own drinks and food so you do not have to plan much in advance. Just make sure you invite everyone ahead of time and let everyone know what to bring.
As mentioned before, if you have someone willing to plan your post-bar exam celebration for you, you should use them. It will allow you to focus solely on studying but still have the big celebration you want.
3. You might want to avoid other bar takers.
After you finish the bar exam you may want to wash your hands of it completely. This might include washing your hands of your fellow bar takers too. If only just for a few days. You just spent two days locked up in a room with these people. Even though you went through something stressful together being near them may continue to stress you out.
Hanging out afterward with your fellow bar exam takers can stress you out when you just need to relax. They might end up talking about the exam and make you feel not so great about your performance. It might be best for you to celebrate with non-lawyers who just know that you accomplished a huge and stressful task and are ready to celebrate with you.
4. The bar exam remains your main priority.
It is tempting to want to focus on life after the bar exam. Studying for the bar exam is an unhappy, monotonous experience. Planning a post-bar exam celebration is a delightful distraction from studying for the bar exam. However, you won’t have much to celebrate if you neglect to study for the bar exam.
Studying for the bar exam should remain your main focus. You cannot put too much effort into planning your celebration and it may be easier to have someone else plan it for you.
As the bar exam creeps closer the more you need to focus on knowing the material. Planning a party should be the last thing on your mind. If you cannot find someone to plan it for you be sure to keep it simple.
5. Another option is to save the post-bar celebration for the following week.
Once the bar is over you will have time to really plan your post-bar exam celebration. Take the day after the bar to rest and recover. Then you can focus on planning your celebration. You will have more time to plan and more energy to celebrate. Without studying for the bar, you will not be limited in your ability to plan a post-bar exam celebration and you can plan whatever you want.
Good luck on the bar exam!
