When I made the decision to purchase JD Advising’s private tutoring, I had already sat for the bar *twice*. I used a very popular bar prep service both times and the second time I scored lower. (F23 = 219 UBE; J23 = 213).
I understood that studying by myself was no longer an option and that I would need to get more hands-on direction. The first thing I did was schedule an Exam Consultation. I had Daniel Fox (who ultimately became my tutor) sit and thoroughly review my UBE scores from F23 and J23 and explain some of the things that commonly go wrong with retakers. After that conversation, I truly believed that JD Advising’s private tutoring services were for me and my next step on this journey.
I would recommend JD Advising’s tutoring services and Daniel to anyone committing themselves to taking the bar. Regardless of if you are a retaker or taking it for the first time. My biggest challenge was my schedule. I was extremely apprehensive at first because I was working full time. So I could not study for the UBE full time, I could only study for it part time and was generally only able to meet in the mornings before I’d head off to work.
As apart of my onboarding after purchasing the tutoring, I was sent ahead of time the full schedule for all 25 of my sessions. This helped me plan and coordinate accordingly given the fact I’d continue working full time until 3 weeks out from my bar. Despite this, this would still come up and a schedule or two would have to be rescheduled. At no point in time did this ever pose a problem. Daniel was extremely flexible and made changes to the schedule as needed and constantly reassured me that he was there to help me and cater to my needs. He is extremely perceptive. So there were times where maybe I didn’t even want to express struggle because I still was not understanding a topic. He’d pick up on it regardless and make suggestions that catered heavily to my needs. I probably spent a grand total of 4 sessions just on property and asked the most redundant questions imaginable but at no point did Daniel ever fret or make me feel stupid. He is extremely empathic and most of our sessions started off with a quick wellness check just to see how I was doing. HOWEVER – Daniel was also extremely good about keeping me on track. Even if there were times (many times) that I didn’t have the opportunity to prepare for a session, Daniel made sure I got something out of every session. He’d ask me hard questions, too. Like how much are I was studying a day, if I did not turn in an assignment, he’d ask if I was practicing and encourage me to be on top of it. So even though he was empathetic, he’s very much a straight shooter and kept me on track by calling out things I could do better or be more consistent on. Which, I promise you, was so helpful for me.
Aside from the tutors themselves, just the raw materials and the online course that is included are THEE most practical and applicable information out there. There is no fluff. Everything was created in a way where it’s easy to digest and comprehend. Nothing is confusing, and if it WAS confusing…. you get to ask about it in a tutoring session!!
All and all, my score jumped 60-pts. Release whatever residual hesitation you may have and commit to a tutoring package and commit to doing the online course that comes with it and crush the friggin UBE!

I had barely missed the mark and as a result, I felt unbelievably lost, hopeless, discouraged and had no idea how to change my studying methods to pass the second time around. I had my first tutoring session with Brittany during this time and within the first 5 minutes I knew that with her help, i’d be able to tackle this process again and succeed. I have taken the Nebraska Bar exam twice. My first time was in July 2023, and I did not pass, missing the 270 score by 13 points (257). On my second attempt for February 2024, I am happy to say that I have passed with a score of 282 with a score breakdown of 141 for the writing and a 141 for the MBE multiple choice section.
I passed my second attempt, thanks largely to my decision to take J.D. Advising’s complete premium course. What I liked about the course, compared to my previous experience as a Barbri student, was the in-person lectures covered all of the materials within the physical outlines that J.D. Advising provides. This was convenient because rather than having to spend 4-6 hours of watching pre-recorded videos that do not even cover all the topics within an outline and then waste even more time going through an 80-ish page outline of even more outline (i.e. Barbri), all the material you are going to need is right in front of you.
One of the standout features of J.D. Advising’s approach is its focus on memorizing and understanding the law, which they believe accounts for 75-80% of the work. This is achieved by practicing with real NCBE-licensed questions. This method proved to be a game-changer for me. It boosted my confidence and allowed me to identify recurring patterns in how certain highly tested topics and their answer choices are phrased. And to my surprise, these patterns were almost exactly replicated in the exam.
Contrast that to what I experienced my first time back in July 2023, when a program used its own “Made Up” questions that looked nothing like what was being tested. It left me dazed and confused as to what was going on in the fact pattern and how the answer choices are typically used.
Finally, J.D. Advising’s Tutors. With the premium course, I had 10 hours of one-on-one private tutor help, significantly increasing my score. This is because the tutor I was assigned was knowledgeable in the subject matter and prioritized the most tricky areas that both he and I noticed I struggled with and that most students tend to struggle with.
As a repeat taker who has felt like they have redeemed themselves by passing the February exam, I would like to give my sincerest advice: to trust J.D.
