Three Things To Do The Morning Of The Bar Exam
Three Things To Do The Morning Of The Bar Exam
The mornings before days one and two of the bar exam may seem fairly straightforward in your head. However, no matter how much you hear about the bar exam experience, nothing compares to the actually experiencing it for yourself. Mornings included. So, let’s take a look at three things to do the morning of the bar exam.
Three Things To Do The Morning Of The Bar Exam
Wake Up Early
There are plenty of opportunities in life to sleep in. The morning of the bar exam is definitely not one of them! The last thing you want to have happen the morning of the bar exam is to experience avoidable stress. Make sure to set your alarm nice and early to avoid a last-minute scramble. For example, if you’re taking the California Bar Exam, you’ll likely have a 9:00 a.m. start time. That means you should be waking up around 6:30 a.m. depending on how far you have to travel to the testing site. If you have trouble getting up at the first alarm, don’t hesitate to set multiple. Waking up early ensures that you’ll give yourself enough time in the event something doesn’t go according to plan!
Answer Between 5-10 MBE Questions
We get it – it’s early and the last thing you want to be doing is answering more questions than necessary. However, take some time and complete between five and ten MBE questions the morning of the MBE. However, there’s one catch. Don’t check the answers to the questions! This pre-exam exercise isn’t focused on whether you get the correct answers to the questions. Instead, it’s designed to warm up your brain for the upcoming onslaught of questions. You’ll be surprised how long it might take to get your brain up and running for a full day of testing. You want to be warmed up and ready to go before the bar exam rather than during the bar exam. Again, the point of the exercise isn’t to check the answers or see how many you can get correct. That may potentially impact your confidence going into the exam, which we want to avoid. Just answer the questions and skip checking the correct choice!
Try To Relax
Unless you’re some kind of robot, you’ll probably have butterflies in your stomach on the morning of the bar exam. First, this is a completely normal sensation and not something you should be worried about. It’s not an indication that you’re underprepared or won’t perform well. It’s simply a natural reaction to a situation. What’s important is not letting these emotions get the best of you before you’ve even taken the test. Set aside some time during the morning of the bar exam to meditate, breathe, stretch…whatever works to calm yourself. You’ll find that it’s better to deal with your emotions prior to the bar exam instead of during it!
