Tennessee Officially Adopts the Uniform Bar Exam

The NCE officially announced that Tennessee was adopting the Uniform Bar Exam on May 2, 2018. In a statement, the NCBE said Tennessee would begin administering the bar exam for the February 2019 administration. So, July 2018 is the last time the current Tennessee bar exam format will be used!

Are there any other developments to report right now?

According to the NCBE website, Tennessee will require a jurisdiction-specific component. UBE jurisdictions always give the MBE, MEE, and MPT. Some states, however, also decide to give an additional component testing state-specific law. It is unclear how exactly how Tennessee will handle this portion. Typically, it appears as an additional multiple-choice or essay section.

As of right now, it is also unclear what the passing score in Tennessee will be. Most jurisdictions opt for scores between 260 and 280 on a 400-point scale.
