I am so glad I decided to use JD Advising’s retaker course, and I would recommend JD Advising to anyone prepping for the bar. I was thrilled with the number of resources provided by JD Advising. I truly believe JD Advising offers resources that are second to none. Specifically, the one-on-one tutoring sessions and the large number of graded essays were critical in helping me pass.

I would highly recommend JD Advising’s Repeat Taker course and private tutoring.
I used JD Advising during my second attempt at the bar exam, after failing in July ‘24. With the help of the course and my tutor, Samantha, I was able to increase my score 45 points from July to February.

what a life saver! as a repeat taker, i was stressed, embarrassed, and exhausted. after taking a diagnostic and meeting with a tutor from jd advising, i realized i had a lot less to stress about than i thought. while i realistically did not watch all the lectures or do every practice essay, their outlines were fundamental to my success in memorization. i am a visual learner, so to see trends color coded, small illustrations, charts, etc. i learned the law really well and rested on my earlier prep for application. would highlight recommend!

I could say THANK YOU a million times and it wouldn’t be enough!
I did fine in law school. I went with the standard/popular bar prep course just like all of my classmates. To say that I was overwhelmed and lacked confidence from the beginning would be an understatement. Despite having just gone through those subjects in school, nothing was clicking – the lengthy lectures, massive books of outlines and fill-in-the blanks, the packed schedule that was impossible to keep up with, the information in general – none of it was working for me. But I thought everyone must feel that way. Yet, I watched as friends and classmates passed (some of whom I outperformed in school). And I did not. It was a big disappointment, but I thought a second round of bar studying and refreshing, utilizing all of the same prep materials on my own, would surely be enough. I still didn’t pass. It was a very embarrassing, frustrating, and draining time in my life, and I didn’t understand why I had failed multiple times. I ultimately tried to chalk it up to a not-meant-to-be situation and just wanted to pivot, move on with life, and not look back.
Fast forward 12 years after law school, I was encouraged by my family to try my hand at the bar exam again. Especially since I had ended up in the legal field anyway (in a fairly specialized area), working for and alongside attorneys, good at my job, training and teaching new attorneys who joined our firm, overseeing and managing employees, etc., it made sense. Truthfully, I still wasn’t in a good headspace about it and felt like I was at an even greater disadvantage now being so far out from school, which was the last time I even remotely thought about 75% of the tested subjects. So, I knew I needed to do something different. As a working mom to a child with special needs, I also needed flexibility and cost-effectiveness. I will be forever grateful that I came across JD Advising.
The UBE On Demand Course was a perfect fit. The course materials are phenomenal! It’s truly such high-quality content for an amazing value. The outline for each subject is incredible! Clear and concise, easy to read, a completely manageable amount of information, not overwhelming, but never for a second did I feel like anything important was left out. The corresponding lectures from Meagan, Heather, Lisa, and Ashley are absolutely amazing! They were interesting and engaging, easy to follow, and the substance is expertly explained. On the occasion that I didn’t quite grasp something while watching and reading along in the outline, sure enough, there was either an immediate example provided, a plain language explanation, a helpful visual representation, or some supplemental discussion, public policy reasoning, etc. – any and all of which cleared up any confusion! (“From a common sense perspective, I think this makes sense.” :) That was always one of my favorite Meagan quotes to hear – because very often for me, understanding the “why” behind a seemingly random law/rule helps it make sense and allows me to truly learn and remember it.) The quality of their instruction is top-notch. One-Sheets are ridiculously helpful! I loved the fun little subject review/memorization tasks and quizzes. There is no shortage of fantastic, real practice questions, and I found the guided practice question sets/lectures to be very helpful, too. I had (stupidly) disregarded the MPT in the past, thinking that since I was a good writer and didn’t have to come up with any substantive knowledge, I’d be fine. Heather’s MPT content and (free!) webinar were so great – her strategy, advice, and tips really helped me capitalize on my writing strength and feel like I was getting the most out of that portion of the exam.
I went in feeling prepared. (And honestly, I could have done more. There were more wonderful resources in the course that I could have taken advantage of, but due to schedule, life, etc. I couldn’t get to them. I definitely fell in the quality-over-quantity category. I was fortunate to be able to take some time off of work for studying, but was still balancing family, motherhood, etc. So, to think that I really could have done even better/scored higher than I did is mind-blowing to me, considering I had given up long ago on the possibility of being successful on the bar.) Nothing on the exam took me by surprise or threw me for a loop. When memory failed me a little, or I got a bit behind on timing, or I was dealing with a subject that wasn’t my strength, I had your strategies in place to rely on, where I knew I was still getting every advantage and point possible as I went.
When my husband asked, “How did it go?”, my response was, “I believe I passed. I feel like I did well and that I deserve to pass.” I had never felt that way previously. I told one of my law school classmates that “it was, dare I say, easy/not that hard.” (Okay, we all know it is not easy.) This course just flat out set me up for success. It did not feel like an overwhelming, impossible hurdle of an exam, but instead was a manageable, strategic test of knowledge of specific subjects, skills, and types of information, during which I was simply able to give the examiners what they were looking for to the best of my abilities, and then just move on to the next. I seriously still get teary-eyed thinking about the fact that I actually did it and how grateful I am for your company.
I tried the “big name” courses, I tried it on my own, I tried it multiple times and ways. My most recent score was a 254. After going through your UBE On Demand Course, I passed the February 2024 North Carolina Bar Exam with a 300! There is no doubt in my mind that I passed because of JD Advising. I give this course and the wonderful instructors all the credit. You can tell how knowledgeable they are, how hard they work in crafting every aspect of the course, every piece of content and advice, and how much they genuinely care. Everything about JD Advising is superb. I THANK YOU ALL! I am finally able to close this chapter and truly move on with life. Thank you again, JD Advising!

As a repeat bar exam taker I was feeling disillusioned with the whole process. I stumbled on JD Advising by searching for ways to improve bar score. I feel very fortunate to have found this program. The resources they provide are absolutely unmatched. The outlines and one sheets were very helpful because it gives you the information you need clearly and without being overwhelming. I really loved learning from the lecture videos- all the instructors are amazing! I also am very grateful for the tutoring sessions. With the help of JD Advising I was able to bring my score from a 257 to a 307! I cannot recommend enough.
