After not passing the bar the first time, I realized I needed to find a bar prep company that would be better tailored to my learning needs. For my second attempt at the bar I was working full time, if not more, so had limited time to study. I needed a program that would work with my time constraint, but also build up my confidence and help me understand how I learn. Through JD advising my score raised 19 points. The reason I was able to raise my score and pass the bar on my second attempt, was largely due to my tutor through JD Advising. My tutor Caroline was quick to understand what I needed to pass the bar – which ended up being a lot of positive reinforcement, building my confidence up, discussions on how terms fit into the larger pictures, and then homework that forced me to focus on specific topics but also master my rules. Even though I said essays were not an issue, she made me quickly realize by mastering essays, I would learn the rules. And she was right. I raised my essay score by almost 15 points. Caroline knew my time restraints and was tactful with my homework assignments and the feedback she gave. Caroline also encouraged me to think about how I learn best and embrace that. I would recommend JD Advising to anyone because the program allows a more tailored approach to bar study and recognizing studying is not a one size fits all approach.

I am a repeat test taker and one of the main things I struggled with the first go around was my essay writing. I was wordy in my responses and often led to rule dumping due not having a proper framework in tackling certain issues for different subjects. Since working with Kathryn, this has improved tremendously! I am more confident in my essay writing and feel the frameworks we have created together have allowed me to properly write about issues presented in various calls. I give JD Advising as a company, and Rachael Page as a bar exam tutor, 5/5 stars. This last attempt was my second attempt at taking the UBE. My confidence was low after not passing the July 2022 bar exam. I really needed to find support in someone who could motivate me, explain the areas of law that I struggled with, provide me with tips to improve my writing skills, and work on overall test-taking strategies. From the beginning of our bar prep tutoring sessions until the end, Rachael was real with me on what I needed to do to give myself my personal best chance at passing the exam. Several times, Rachael cheered me on virtually when I was struggling completing tasks, when life got busy, or I was studying a subject I dislike.
