Is it possible to study for the MPRE for a week and pass?

A lot of students wonder if it is possible to study for the MPRE for a week and pass it. The answer is: yes it is possible, but it is not recommended! Here, we tell you if you are more or less likely to pass the MPRE with a week of studying. We also tell you how to make the most of your MPRE studying if you only plan on studying for a week. 

You will more likely pass the MPRE with this last-minute study approach if you:

• took Professional Responsibility in law school
• have an MPRE course ready!
• have practice MPRE questions on hand
• have a good MPRE outline

It is possible to study for the MPRE for a week and still pass providing you use your time efficiently. You should watch your MPRE course lecture, then focus on memorizing the rules. Lastly, after you have a decent grasp on the rules, you should practice answering MPRE questions. (Don’t just answer a bunch of questions! It is important to understand the rules then have a decent grasp on them prior to answering questions!)

You should not plan on studying for the MPRE for a week if it is a “high stakes” exam (e.g., if you will not be able to take the bar exam if you don’t pass the MPRE, or if it is the last hurdle standing in your way to becoming licensed). If it is not a high stakes exam and you do not mind putting in the time and money to retake the MPRE if you fail, then your approach matters less. However, some examinees find if they fail the MPRE it makes them more anxious for the bar exam. If you are one of these people, then it may be better to spend more time up front studying for the MPRE.
