Heather Buck is an extremely sought-after bar exam expert, legal educator, and speaker with an unmatched track record of success. Since joining JD Advising in 2018, she has tutored thousands of hours and helped hundreds of students pass the bar exam—including a 10-time test-taker who finally passed under her guidance. Her expertise, strategic approach, and deep commitment to student success make her one of JD Advising’s most experienced and results-driven instructors.
Heather co-leads JD Advising’s tutor training and bar exam instructor program, ensuring that every tutor upholds the highest standards in legal education. She is also an Adjunct Law Professor at Wayne State University Law School, where she teaches a specialized course on bar exam success, mentoring future attorneys on how to approach the exam strategically.
Beyond teaching, Heather is a sought-after speaker on bar exam success and has been invited to present at multiple law schools and events. She has worked closely with students and legal professionals to provide actionable strategies for improving bar passage outcomes.
She is among the few who have passed both the Michigan Bar Exam (2012) and the notoriously difficult California Bar Exam (2019), demonstrating her mastery of multiple jurisdictions. Ninos
Position: Bar Exam Course Instructor, Tutor
Bar Exam Score: 316, also passed the California Bar Exam
Bio: Ninos graduated from the George Washington University Law School in 2019 with highest honors (top 1%), while working full-time. He holds both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University and currently works at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on the patents side of the agency.
He passed the Uniform Bar Exam for Washington, D.C., in July 2019 with a cumulative score of a 316. Additionally, he successfully passed the California Bar Exam in February 2020 while maintaining full-time employment at the USPTO. He is also admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Amanda
Position: Bar Exam Course Instructor, Tutor

Bio: Amanda is a licensed attorney in New York State. She graduated cum laude from Brooklyn Law School in 2017. During law school, Amanda worked as a research assistant for Brooklyn Law School’s General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, served on the editorial board of the Brooklyn Law Review, and was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society, Appellate Division. She was also a teaching assistant for the Summer Legal Process course at Brooklyn Law School. Amanda passed the Uniform Bar Exam in July 2017 with a score of 326. Upon graduating, Amanda worked as an assistant public defender for several years. In her free time, Amanda enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with her family.
Julia
Position: Tutor
Bar Exam Score: 319
Bio: Julia received her bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota in 2018 in Law, the Media, and Human Rights. She earned her J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2021 and is now a licensed attorney in Minnesota. While in law school, Julia worked three jobs, served on the editorial board of the Public Interest Law Review, co-founded the First-Generation Law Students Association, and served on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board. She received CALI awards in Criminal Procedure and Advanced Trial Advocacy. Upon graduation, she received the Orell-Brown Award for Clinical Excellence in the Children’s Law Center, and the Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award.
Julia passed the UBE in July 2021 with a score of 319 while working as a judicial law clerk. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, sailing, and spending time with friends.
Aimee
Position: Bar Exam Course Instructor, Tutor
Bar Exam Score: Passed the Virginia and California Bar Exams
Bio: Aimee graduated with honors from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. While in law school, Aimee was an editor for the law review, on the executive board of the moot court association, and interned for federal and state judges. Aimee was also a teaching assistant for 1L Legal Research and Writing, and a Dean’s Fellow. Since graduating, Aimee has clerked for state trial court and appellate judges.
Aimee is licensed in Virginia and California. She is currently residing in Northern Virginia. In her free time, Aimee enjoys exploring Washington, D.C., spending time outdoors, and trying new recipes.
Blythe
Position: Bar Exam Course Instructor, Tutor
Bar Exam Score: 305
Bio: Blythe is a licensed attorney in Michigan. She graduated cum laude from Wayne State University Law School in 2023. During law school, Blythe served as a teaching assistant for Contracts and a research assistant for professors specializing in housing, international, and environmental law. She was a member of Wayne State’s Law Review and served as chancellor of the Jessup International Moot Court team.
In 2022, Blythe won the American Bar Association (ABA) Aviation and Space Law Committee national student writing competition. Her note, “The Antarctic Model for Treaties to Regulate Tourism in Outer Space,” was subsequently published. She was also Wayne State’s 2023 Freeman Fellow and spent that summer studying public international law at the Hague Academy of International Law.
Prior to law school, Blythe taught English as a second language in South Korea and SAT preparation in South Korea and Kuwait. After five years abroad, she returned to the United States and served with AmeriCorps as an environmental educator in public schools across Montana. Blythe holds a master’s degree in responsible tourism management and previously worked in tourism development for National Geographic. Since graduation, she has been working in eviction defense in Detroit.
In her free time, Blythe enjoys renovating her historic home in Detroit, exploring the Midwest, and visiting the Detroit Institute of Arts.
