Take A Nap
Bar prep is an exhausting process, to say the least. You have outlines, supplements, lectures, and multiple-choice questions to name a few tasks. The amount of work seemingly never ends! With all of the time and effort that goes into bar prep, it’s important to make sure you’re well-rested. A quick nap during your lunch break can help to increase your memory functions, creativity, and alertness. Just set an alarm so you don’t wake up at 2 a.m. with flashcards stuck to your face.

Exercise
Have a hard time taking naps? You may want to get some level of exercise in on your lunch break. Science has told us time and time again that physical activity comes with a series of important benefits. For example, physical activity triggers endorphin flow throughout your body. Endorphins have been proven to enhance focus, improve memory and recall, and boost your mood. These benefits can all play a vital role in helping you study and prepare for the bar exam.

Mindful Meditation
Ok, if you have a hard time napping and an even harder time exercising, we’re sure you’ll love meditating. Initially, mindful meditation can seem like an impossible task. You might be thinking “how am I supposed to meditate? My brain won’t shut up!” It’s ok, everyone has the same reaction at first. However, mindful meditation can improve your productivity, concentration, and allow you to better manage your emotions.
Mindful meditation is a simple process. The simplest way to meditate is to focus your attention on your breath, specifically the inhale and exhale. During this process, you may find that your mind wanders and gets distracted by thoughts or bodily sensations. This is totally normal and even expected. Simply notice that your mind has been distracted and gently bring your attention back to your breath. Try this out for between 10 and 15 minutes!
Hang with Friends or Family
Bar prep is an all-encompassing experience and sometimes it’s easy to get wrapped up in it. Take your lunch break as an opportunity to check in with friends and family. If your friends are also studying for the Bar Exam, even better! Talking and interacting with people who are going through the same process as you is hugely beneficial. For example, you’ll be able to connect with them over common issues and get their viewpoints on certain matters. Your bar prep friends can act as a soundboard for your ideas, feelings, and emotions related to the exam. If your friends or family aren’t familiar with the bar prep process, no problem. Take the opportunity to catch up with them on subjects that have nothing to do with bar prep.
A Mindless Activity
Your time spent studying and preparing for the Bar Exam shouldn’t include certain activities and habits. Periodically checking your phone, chatting with friends, or studying while watching the latest Mandalorian episode are all not recommended. We know Baby Yoda is hard to resist but do your best. Instead, take your lunch break to engage in these activities. Scroll on Instagram, play video games, or text away with friends. Sometimes your brain just needs to engage in mindless activities for you to be able to focus later on.
Whatever you choose, just make sure it doesn’t end up taking half of your day away. As we said, we know how cute Baby Yoda is.
