Wayne Law Purchases JD Advising’s How to Pass the Michigan Bar Exam Book for WSU Law Bar Exam TakersWayne State University Law School has purchased JD Advising’s How to Pass the Michigan Bar Exam book for it’s July bar exam takers signed up for JD Advising’s 5-part bar exam preparatory program at WSU. The five-part program includes graded essay exams, a Michigan Bar Exam seminar, a Multistate Bar Exam seminar, as well as JD Advising’s book. Wayne State University Law students who have copies of the book will be at a distinct advantage when taking the bar exam. It’s perfectly normal to be nervous about starting 1L year. An approaching big change in your life is always nerve-wracking. But one thing to remember is that everyone in your class is going to be nervous. I remember a few months before I started I asked a friend who was going to be in my class if he was excited. The response? “Not really.” Everyone feels some sort of apprehension about this new challenge. No one really has an advantage going in as no one has ever done this before. At the risk of sounding cliché, you’re all in this together!
One of the easiest, yet overlooked places to get points on the bar exam is the MPT. In Uniform Bar Exam (UBE) jurisdiction’s the MPT is worth 20% of the applicant’s overall score (or the same as 70 scored multiple-choice questions!). The great thing about the MPT is that with some tailored practice, it is relatively easy to improve your score significantly. This is mainly because the MPT provides you with all of the law and facts that you need to complete the task. In other words, it is a “closed universe.” So, the applicant just needs to know how to complete the task in the requisite time.

You need a minimum scaled score of 266 (out of a possible 400 points) to pass the exam. The DC bar exam does not have an additional jurisdiction-specific component that examinees must complete in order to become licensed. Should I Ask My Boss To Pay For Bar Review?: While law school itself can be incredibly expensive, unfortunately, it does not end there. Bar review courses can cost in excess of thousands of dollars. Now while that doesn’t sound appealing, it is a necessary evil, and something you need to commit to. You didn’t just work your way through three years of law school to put your career as a lawyer in jeopardy by not preparing properly for the bar. Official statistics for the February 2017 Michigan bar exam have not yet been released. However, doing basic math with the numbers we have available, it appears as though the February 2017 Michigan bar exam passage rate was 46%.
(How did we get this number? It looks like, based on the seat number list, there were approximately 390 bar exam takers without accommodations. There were also approximately 15 bar exam takers with accommodations in the 600’s and 15 attorneys licensed in other jurisdictions in the 700’s. So the total number of bar exam takers appears to be around 420. There are about 194 seat numbers on the list. That makes for a 46 – 47% passage rate.)
